Poetry That Frees The Soul
Here is a truly touching video by Cristina Domenech who teaches writing at an Argentinian prison.
She tells a moving story of helping incarcerated people express themselves and discover the freedom of language. Many of the prisoners wanted to put on paper all the things they couldn’t say or do. In prison you can never sleep, you can never close your eyes and feel safe, so Christina Domenech gave them a way to voice this torment and many others they found in prison.
“It’s said that to be a poet, you have to go to hell and back. And they have plenty of hell. Plenty of hell.”
